Jeanne Stevens for State Representative '08

Welcome Madison and North Guilford Voters

In January I was asked by the State and Town GOP leaders to run for State Representative.  I have accepted.  Effecting change in Hartford is a great way to serve my community.  Be assured I am committed to doing what is best for Madison and North Guilford and not what is best for the advancement of a personal career in politics.

As you well know, our shoreline communities continually struggle to pay for needed services while keeping property taxes in check.  This is especially important today during these uncertain economic times.

As your State Representative in Hartford I will advocate for the values, issues and concerns of the 101st District.  We need more funds for our schools and for the promotion of open spaces while helping to promote balanced economic development.

I look forward to meeting many of you over the next few months!  I am continually reminding my children to “play nice” in the proverbial sandbox – the same is true in the political arena.  It is time to end the political divisiveness at the Town and State levels.

Accordingly, for the reasons set forth above, I am the right choice at the ballot box this November.

Thank you,

Jeanne W. Stevens

Is Your Quality of Life any Better?
Democrats have controlled Hartford for 32 of the last 34 years - that's more than a generation!  What has that gotten us?  Connecticut is one of only four states that fully taxes pensions as if they were income, we pay the highest federal, state, and local taxes per capita in the nation, we have the one of the highest gas taxes in the nation and our 18-34 year olds can't move out of state fast enough.  Additionally, the Milken Institute ranks Connecticut as the 5th costliest state in the nation in which to do business.  Entrepreneur Magazine rated Connecticut last in the country in business growth.
