Jeanne is a six-year resident of Madison where she lives with her husband Matt and their four sons.
Born in New York, Jeanne graduated from Horace Greeley H.S. in Chappaqua, William Smith College and Fordham University School of Law. It was during law school that Jeanne fell in love with public service after interning at the New York County District Attorney’s Office.
In 1989, Jeanne proudly embarked on her career as an Assistant District Attorney in that prestigious office. Hand-picked as a member of the Office’s Appeals Bureau she honed her research, writing and oral argument skills on felony appeals, advised trial assistants on legal issues and litigated the occasional pre-trial hearing. Her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organization skills allowed Jeanne to supplement her regular prosecutorial duties as a member of the Office’s Civil Litigation Unit, overseeing the Coram Nobis program, participating in the hiring committee and the Bureau’s summer intern program to name a few.
In late 1994 Jeanne became an Associate Attorney at the international law firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP. Working out of their White Plains, NY office, her primary responsibility was as liaison to the firm’s clients (publishing press releases and newsletters on recent developments in, among other areas, D&O liability, EEOC, tort liability, and environmental law).
When Jeanne’s husband was promoted the growing Stevens family relocated to Chico, California. Six years later, the Stevens clan traded coasts yet again, moving to scenic Madison, CT. At that time, Jeanne became self-employed, working out of her home as an independent contractor transcribing legal documents. The flexible work schedule accommodates her active family and community lifestyle.
Community service has been and continues to be an enormous part of Jeanne’s life. In Madison, Jeanne is actively involved in the community. She co-chairs Madison Youth and Family Services’ Safe Homes Program and is an active volunteer for Safe Rides. She can frequently be found in her children’s schools, helping in classroom activities, class trips or the school library. She is on the board of DHHS’s Association of Parents, Teachers and Students and was on the committee for the first annual DHHS Family University held earlier in March.

She teaches CCD at St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, attends MYFS Tween and Teen discussions, once again represents Safe Homes on the Selectmen’s Council on Youth Substance Abuse, and has co-coached her children’s soccer and Odyssey of the Mind teams.
On a personal note, Jeanne loves her book groups, the NY Times crossword, gardening, home improvement projects, attending her kids’ soccer, cross-country and lacrosse games, and Matt, her husband of almost 20 years!
